In the year 1979, her movie became successful, which is a Malayalam movie- Inaye Thedi, in which she played in the lead role. Then in Vandichakkaram which was a Tamil movie released in 1981, in this movie she potrayed herself as a bar girl. Audiences demanded her item song in every movie and she charged per song 50,000 Rs.

Silk became success full actress and make her stardom at top of the level. During the completion of 4 years, she did more than 200 movies in this industry.

After that, she married with Doctor and her husband suggested her to why not take a chance in the Production line. She made a movie in which she spends all of her money in this movie, but unluckily this movie flopped and her entire money got vanishes.

After that, her husband also cheated and she started to drunk. On 23 December 1996, when she was turned 36 years, she got suicide in her apartment, Chennai.

In Hindi cinema honored to her made a movie on behalf of her life story, named The Dirty Picture. In which star cast Vidhya Balan who played as a role of Silk.
