Kym Karath Career

Kym Karath started her acting career at the age of three, appearing in Spencer’s Mountain (1963) with Henry Fonda and Maureen O’Hara, The Thrill of It All (1963) with Doris Day and James Garner, and Good Neighbor Sam (1964) with Jack Lemmon, before winning the role of “Gretl,”  the youngest Von Trapp daughter. After The Sound of Music (1965), Kym persisted in appearing in Her Three Sons (1960), Lost in Space (1965), Family Affair (1966), and The Brady Bunch (1969), rather than taking time off to pursue her education. After graduating from USC with her degree in Humanities, Kym made television appearances in such shows as Archie Bunker’s Place (1979) and Midnight Offerings (1981) before shifting to Paris to model and examine art records.

She is now resuming her acting career in Los Angeles, CA.

Family Background

Heather Menzies-Urich, her co-big name in The Sound of Music (1965), ultimately becomes godmother to her son. They had become close buddies despite the truth that while filming that movie’s rowboat scene, Kym swallowed too much water and threw up on Heather.

Kym’s older sister, Frances Karath, auditioned for the position of “Liesl von Trapp” in The Sound of Music (1965). Former sister-in-law of Alan Callow.

Both parents are Greek. The family’s name was originally Karathanasis until her father shortened it to Karath. She has two times portrayed a more youthful sister of an individual played with the aid of a Cartwright sister, both movies that featured large households.
