Amala Paul started her career with Malayali movie Neelathamari in 2009. After that, she appeared in the Tamil movie Sindhu Samaveli but this movie not performed well at the box office.

After that, she potrayed her best performance in the movie Mynaa in 2010, which is a blockbuster movie, and through this movie, she won Filmfare Awards for best debut actress.

She started also in the movie 2011, from Telugu debut Bejawada, and performed in various movies Thirumagal, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, and Run Baby Run.

For her better performance in the Malayali movie Oru Indian Pranayakatha in 2013, she won SIIMA and Asianet Awards. She won the South Filmfare critics award for best actress in the movie Mili.

In the Tamil movie Amma Kanakku, her role also appreciated by audiences.

After that, she appeared in the Kannada movie Hebbuli in 2017 and VIP 2 also done by her one of the best movie with starrer Dhanush and Kajol.4

But she got sensational on the internet by her movie Aadai (19 July 2019) in which she played a role of a media anchor, in this movie she performed some nude scene, and lip lock with V J Ramya (Ramya Subramanian), during its trailer released on internet gone viral. This movie is directed and written by Rathna Kumar due to which she honored with Bhinwoods Gold Medal for best actress Critics (Tamil) Award.
